A council in the East of England are looking for a Capital Accountant to come in and look after their Fixed Asset Register (CIPFA) over Year End and potentially beyond.

The ideal candidate they are looking for is someone who has end to end FAR experience in that they have experience in doing the valuations, challenging the valuers assumptions and making the inputs into the FAR reconcile.

Given the time of year you would be leading on the Capital disclosure notes for Year End.

Main Responsibilities…

• Asset Capitalisation - Ensure capital expenditures are correctly capitalised in line with accounting standards and council policies.
• Financial Reporting - Prepare reports on capital projects and assets for inclusion in management accounts and statutory financial statements.
• Audit and Compliance - Maintain documentation and provide support for internal and external audits, ensuring all capital accounting complies with statutory and council requirements.

An ideal candidate would…

• Be ACCA qualified and have extensive Fixed Assets knowledge and experience within Local Government, ideally at District level.
• Have end to end Fixed Assets experience including facilitating asset valuations, challenging valuers and making sure they reconcile in the FAR.
• Have written Capital disclosure notes for Local Authorities at year end previously.
