Development Management - Technical Support Team Leader

South East England Contract £47 - £50 Per Hour

I am working with a Local Authority in the Oxfordshire area who are seeking an experienced Technical Support Team Leader to join their Development Management service on a 6-month interim assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior planning technical professional with strong leadership, systems knowledge and service delivery experience to take ownership of a busy and high-performing support function.

The Role:
As the Technical Support Team Leader, you will:
* Lead, manage and develop the Development Management Technical Support Team, including Technical Support Supervisors, Senior Technical Support Officers, Technical Support Officers and Trainees.
* Oversee the delivery of an efficient and effective technical support service, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and national/local performance targets.
* Take responsibility for the most complex and high-profile planning cases, including applications, pre-apps, appeals and enforcement matters.
* Act as a key decision-maker on technical planning matters and deputise for senior management where required.
* Manage planning systems, workflows and digital processes, including system upgrades, fault resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Lead on service improvement, identifying efficiencies, improving processes and supporting digital transformation across the service.
* Manage FOI/EIR requests, statutory publications and ensure compliance with all legal and procedural requirements.
* Support Planning Committee processes, including technical input and preparation of reports for complex cases.
* Monitor and manage team performance, workloads, budgets and service KPIs.
* Act as a key point of contact for Members, applicants, agents, and the public on technical planning matters.
* Lead on staff development, recruitment, training and performance management within the team.

Contract Details:
* Duration: 6 months initially
* Rate: DOE (Dependent on Experience)
* Working pattern: Hybrid - 1 day per week in the office
* Hours: Full-time
