A Local Authority in Hertfordshire is looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Health Officer to support its Private Sector Housing function during a busy period.
Working as part of an established team, you'll manage a varied caseload covering housing complaints, inspections and enforcement activity across the private rented sector. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can hit the ground running and confidently manage cases from initial inspection through to resolution.
Key responsibilities:
- Investigating housing complaints and service requests
- Carrying out HHSRS inspections
- Assessing and mitigating category 1 and 2 hazards
- Serving statutory notices where appropriate
- Undertaking enforcement action in line with relevant legislation
- Liaising with landlords, tenants and partner agencies
- Managing a diverse caseload with minimal supervision
Requirements:
- Environmental Health qualification with EHORB registration (or equivalent)
- Recent experience within a Local Authority Private Sector Housing team
- Strong knowledge of HHSRS and housing enforcement legislation
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- £50-£55 per hour
- Flexible working arrangements
