I am working with a Local Authority in the East of England who are seeking an experienced Policy Group Manager / Head of Service for a 6-month interim assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior planning professional with strong leadership and technical expertise to manage a team and take the through the Local Plan
The Role:
As the Area Team Manager, you will:
- Manage the local Plan and take local plan to Key Stage One by December 2026 and Gateway by April 2027.
- Lead and manage Policy officers, including workload allocation and performance management to ensure service targets are met.
- Play a key role in the wider management team, contributing to strategic decision-making and service development.
- Present rand provide professional advice at Committee
- Represent the Council at appeals, hearings and public inquiries, acting as an expert witness when necessary
- Ensure all decisions and recommendations comply with planning legislation, policy and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with Members, internal departments and external stakeholders to support effective service delivery
Contract Details:
- Duration: 6 months initially
- Rate: £500 - £600 p/d
- Working pattern: Fully Remote (on site for committee only)
- Hours: Full-time
