Looking for your next Housing Options contract?
An Essex local authority is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to support the team on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a homelessness professional who is confident managing a varied caseload and delivering high-quality customer outcomes.
The role will involve:
- Assessing homelessness applications and determining duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- Delivering comprehensive housing advice to applicants at risk of homelessness
- Developing and reviewing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs)
- Working closely with households to prevent homelessness and secure sustainable housing solutions
- Conducting enquiries and issuing legally compliant decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996
What we're looking for:
- Previous Housing Options experience within a UK local authority
- Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- Experience managing Prevention and Relief duties from initial approach through to case closure
- Availability to attend the office twice per week
