Offering a competitive hourly rate, senior-level responsibility and flexible hybrid working, this role would suit an experienced DM Team Leader or Principal Planning Officer looking to combine team leadership with hands-on involvement in complex planning applications.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and signing off officer reports and recommendations
- Validating and allocating incoming planning applications
- Managing, mentoring and supporting junior planning officers
- Attending and presenting applications at Planning Applications Committee
- Participating in Gateway Meetings with elected Members
- Managing a small caseload of complex planning applications
- Conducting site visits and regular one-to-one meetings with team members
What's on Offer?
- £60-£65 per hour, depending on experience
- Outside IR35
- Full-time contract
- Initial three-month contract, with extension to be reviewed
- Hybrid working - just two days per week in the office
- Immediate requirement
About You
You will have substantial Development Management experience within a local authority, alongside the technical expertise and confidence to oversee application decisions, support colleagues and contribute to the effective running of a busy planning team.
Previous team leadership experience would be highly advantageous, as would the ability to manage complex applications while providing guidance and support to less experienced officers.
Why Apply?
This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior position offering a strong hourly rate, outside-IR35 status and a flexible working arrangement, while retaining involvement in complex planning work.
