A Local Authority in Cheshire is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to strengthen its Housing Solutions team during a busy period.
In this role, you'll provide front line support to households at risk of homelessness, ensuring statutory duties are met while working proactively to secure sustainable long‑term housing outcomes.
Key Duties
- Conduct homelessness assessments, initial triage, and in‑depth interviews in line with legislation
- Issue clear and compliant Section 184 decisions under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
- Develop and monitor Personalised Housing Plans, ensuring effective case management and timely action
- Identify suitable private sector opportunities and negotiate placements with landlords and agents
- Work closely with teams such as Temporary Accommodation, Allocations, and Prevention services
- Maintain accurate and well‑structured case records and documentation
Contract Details
- £26-£28 per hour (umbrella)
- Hybrid working - 2 days per week required in the Cheshire office
- Immediate start preferred
- 3 month contract with a strong likelihood of extension
What You'll Need
- Recent experience managing homelessness cases within a Local Authority
- Solid understanding of the HRA 2017, Housing Act 1996 Part VII, and homelessness statutory duties
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
- A proactive, prevention‑focused approach
