Planning Enforcement Officer

I am currently working with a Local Authority in the South West area who are seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join the team on an interim basis to provide cover and assist with reducing an existing enforcement backlog.

The Role:

As Planning Enforcement Officer, you will:

• Manage a varied caseload ranging from householder developments through to complex mixed-use and rural site investigations
• Investigate alleged breaches of planning control and undertake site visits independently
• Negotiate suitable resolutions where appropriate
• Prepare and serve Enforcement Notices and other formal enforcement documentation
• Manage enforcement appeals and associated casework
• Assist with prosecutions and legal proceedings arising from non-compliance
• Work through a backlog of historic enforcement cases whilst managing new investigations
• Provide support and mentoring to junior members of the team where required

Contract Details:

• Initial 6-month contract
• Full-time position
• Hybrid working arrangement
• Regular office attendance required
• Site visits required as part of the role
• Rates negotiable depending on experience
