Are you an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer looking for your next interim contract within Local Government?

A Hampshire Local Authority is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join its busy and supportive Private Sector Housing team on an initial 6-month contract.

The Role

As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you'll manage a varied caseload across the Private Rented Sector, focusing on improving housing standards, ensuring compliance with legislation, and delivering effective private sector housing functions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out HHSRS inspections and property investigations.
• Assessing Category 1 and Category 2 hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
• Serving statutory notices under the Housing Act 2004.
• Preparing and issuing Civil Penalty Notices (CPNs).
• Investigating housing complaints, disrepair cases and poor housing conditions.
• Liaising with landlords, tenants, legal teams and external agencies.
• Preparing detailed inspection reports and evidence packs.
• Supporting wider Private Sector Housing initiatives.

About You

To be considered for this Private Sector Housing Officer role, you will have:

• Recent experience working within a Local Authority Private Sector Housing team.
• Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS.
• Experience preparing and issuing Civil Penalty Notices.
• The ability to independently manage a busy and varied caseload.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and report-writing skills.
• Availability to start at short notice would be advantageous.

Contract Details

• £55-£60 per hour (Umbrella)
• Initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension.
• Hybrid working arrangements.
• Immediate start available.
