I'm currently working exclusively with a highly regarded District Council in the West Midlands who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior or Principal Planning Enforcement Officer on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension. This is an opportunity that won't stay available for long. The council is ideally looking for someone who can start within the next 1-2 weeks and join a well-established, supportive Enforcement team with exceptionally low staff turnover.

The Role:
You'll play a key role within the Development Management Enforcement Team, managing a varied caseload and helping to deliver effective planning enforcement across the district.
Key responsibilities include:
- Investigating alleged breaches of planning control and seeking appropriate resolutions
- Conducting site inspections, gathering evidence, taking photographs and serving notices
- Preparing and reviewing Enforcement Notices and related legal documentation
- Managing enforcement appeals and planning condition monitoring
- Working within RIPA and PACE requirements
- Preparing statements, liaising with legal services and attending court where required
- Assisting with planning application work, consultations and site visits
- Responding to enquiries from developers, landowners, elected members and members of the public
What You'll Bring:
- Previous Planning Enforcement experience within a local authority setting
- Strong knowledge of current planning legislation, policy and guidance
- Experience dealing with planning appeals and enforcement cases
- A planning-related qualification (degree, postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Working Pattern: Hybrid
Rate: £43.00 - £45.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Duration: Initial 6 months with strong extension prospects
