Leasehold Officer
Kent | £27ph Umbrella | 6 month contract
Are you an experienced Leasehold Officer with strong knowledge of Section 20, major works and service charges?
We're working with an established housing provider in Kent that is looking for an experienced Leasehold Officer to join its close-knit team on an interim basis.
You'll be joining a smaller leasehold service responsible for approximately 500 leasehold properties, giving you the opportunity to take genuine ownership of your workload and work across a broad range of leasehold matters.
This isn't a role where you'll be focused on just one area. You'll be involved across the leasehold service, with a particular emphasis on Section 20 consultation, major works and service charges.
What will you be doing?
You'll be responsible for delivering a knowledgeable and resident-focused leasehold service, including:
- Managing Section 20 consultations and major works cases
- Preparing and issuing statutory consultation notices
- Responding to leaseholder observations and enquiries
- Handling estimated and actual service charge queries
- Reviewing costs, apportionments and leaseholder contributions
- Interpreting leases and applying relevant leasehold legislation
- Managing more complex leasehold enquiries, disputes and complaints
- Working closely with property services, finance, surveyors and other housing colleagues
- Taking ownership of cases through to resolution
The organisation is particularly keen to strengthen how Section 20 and service charge work is managed within the leasehold team.
Who are we looking for?
You'll need previous experience working within Leasehold, Homeownership, Major Works or Service Charges, ideally within social housing.
We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have:
- Strong Section 20 and major works experience
- Good knowledge of service charges and leasehold legislation
- Experience interpreting leases
- Confidence managing complex leaseholder enquiries
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- The ability to manage your own caseload and priorities
- A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership
You'll be joining a smaller team, so we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, work collaboratively and provide a genuinely good service to leaseholders.
The office is conveniently located close to a mainline station, making it easily accessible by public transport.
Interested?
If you're an experienced Leasehold Officer looking for your next interim opportunity and your background includes Section 20, major works and service charges, we'd love to hear from you.
