Service Manager - Transport Planning and Policy

North East England Contract £60 - £65 Per Hour

A Local Authority in the North East is seeking a Service Manager - Transport Planning and Policy. This pivotal role will drive local transport strategy and oversee the Transport Capital Programme, focusing on active travel, public transport, and behaviour change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead business case development to secure transport funding (WebTAG/HMT Green Book compliant).
  • Shape local transport policy aligned with regional and national strategies.
  • Provide transport input on major development projects and strategic sites.
  • Secure financial contributions from developments to support transport infrastructure.
  • Promote public transport and active travel by collaborating with operators and strategic partners.

The council is implementing innovative transport initiatives, including rail connections, town centre enhancements, low-carbon transport solutions, and the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District.

This role is initially available on a six-month contract, with the potential for extension and the rate is open to negotiation.
