Service Manager - Transport Planning and Policy

North East England Contract £60 - £65 Per Hour

A Local Authority in the North East is seeking a Service Manager - Transport Planning and Policy. This pivotal role will drive local transport strategy and oversee the Transport Capital Programme, focusing on active travel, public transport, and behaviour change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead business case development to secure transport funding (WebTAG/HMT Green Book compliant).
Shape local transport policy aligned with regional and national strategies.
Provide transport input on major development projects and strategic sites.
Secure financial contributions from developments to support transport infrastructure.
Promote public transport and active travel by collaborating with operators and strategic partners.

The council is implementing innovative transport initiatives, including rail connections, town centre enhancements, low-carbon transport solutions, and the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District.

This role is initially available on a six-month contract, with the potential for extension and the rate is open to negotiation.
