Interim Private Sector Housing Officer

A Bedfordshire Local Authority is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support a busy Housing Standards service during a period of increased demand.

The team is currently seeing a significant rise in service requests relating to damp and mould, retaliatory eviction concerns and poor conditions within privately rented accommodation. As a result, they're looking for an officer who is comfortable managing complex cases from inspection through to enforcement.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys being out in the district, making decisions, and working with landlords and residents to achieve real improvements rather than sitting behind a desk all day.

The role:

• Investigating housing complaints and potential breaches of housing legislation
• Conducting HHSRS assessments and property inspections
• Managing enforcement cases from initial complaint through to resolution
• Drafting schedules of works and statutory notices
• Working alongside legal teams on more complex enforcement matters
• Providing technical advice to landlords, agents and residents

You'll need:
