We are partnering with a Borough Council situated in the north of England who are looking for a Deputy Section 151 officer to join them on an initial six month basis.
The role requires an on sight presence once a week in the North West.
Main Responsibilities Include…
- Overall line management responsibilities for 20 members of staff within the wider finance team including technical accountant, business partnering and exchequer services.
- Deputising for the section 151 officer as and when required including liaising with and answering member queries.
- Play a key role in the development of the authority's medium term financial strategy.
- Contribute towards the LGR strategy for the borough and prepare the authority for its subsumption into a wider unitary authority in 2027.
An ideal candidate would…
- Be ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Have an intimate an extensive understanding of Local Government Finance including management accounts and technical accounting.
- Have previous experience managing teams within Local Government Finance.
