Housing Reviews Officer - Nottinghamshire (Local Authority)

A local authority in Nottinghamshire is seeking an experienced Housing Reviews Officer for a temporary contract, offering £33-£35 per hour (umbrella). This role is ideal for a specialist in housing, homelessness, and statutory housing reviews, with a strong background in Part VII and s202 decision‑making.

Role Overview

  • Carry out independent Housing Reviews (s202) of homelessness and housing allocation decisions for the local authority.
  • Conduct detailed investigations, gathering evidence and liaising with Housing Options, Legal Services, solicitors and partner agencies.
  • Draft and issue clear, defensible review decision letters in line with statutory deadlines.
  • Oversee temporary accommodation during the review process to ensure compliance, minimise risk and manage costs.
  • Provide feedback to front line housing teams to improve decision‑making and reduce repeat reviews.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 12 months experience as a Housing Reviews Officer within a local authority (within the last two years).
  • Strong knowledge of Housing Act 1996, Part VII, s202, Review Regulations and homelessness case law.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable households through complex reviews.
  • Excellent written communication and strong organisational skills.

Additional Details

  • Hybrid working, with 2 days office attendance required in Nottinghamshire.
  • Immediate start available.
  • Competitive £33-£35 per hour (umbrella) pay rate.
